RTW has been releasing a lot of information about the changes they intend to make, and it all looks like they're heading in the right direction.
I imagine a lot of us have a great deal of responsibilities in our lives that fall somewhere above recreational gaming in the priorities scheme. I for one am winding down home improvements to prepare for the start of a new occupation that may even cause a short leave of absence. (I tend to be very 'All or Nothing'.)
I think it's safe to assume that we'll all eventually get tired or burned out of whatever else it is we are doing that make us productive members of society and frequently visit the 82nd. Let's get real: Where else are we going to find good teammates?
I've looked over MW2. $60 isn't a lot but I question spending it on a game I'm not sure I'd even be playing often when there are so many other FPS options. $60 is a few new smoke detectors, a contractor box worth of recessed lighting cans or just part of this week's grocery bill. It's just Want versus Need.
Hell, maybe I should start a registry of games for the 82nd and the individuals who enjoy playing them...but Steam probably already does a pretty good job of that. I've personally resorted to playing Sven Coop, Natural Selection and beat Alien Swarm a few times while I wait for APB to get fixed.
After I've a set routine again I'll likely play a few of those Aeria games as well. I think I was almost up to Master Sergeant in Wolf Team the last time I stopped.

If you're just now thinking of getting MW2, I wouldn't waste your money.
If I had a glimpse at how it came out at this point back in November, I wouldn't have gotten it then either.
